What I Believe About Coaching

There are many misconceptions about life coaching. I had some of them myself before deepening my training and experience.

Here’s what guides my work:

Coaching is not advice-giving.
My role isn’t to tell you what to do. It’s to ask thoughtful questions, offer practical tools, and help you access your own clarity and forward momentum. While some clients are open to or even prefer to source fresh ideas, sustainable change happens when insight comes from within.

Coaches are not superior to their clients.
I don’t position myself as the authority on what makes a “successful” life. Success is subjective. It evolves. And it must be defined by you.

Coaching is not therapy.
We may explore context and patterns to support your goals, but I do not diagnose, treat, or process trauma. If therapeutic support would better serve you, I will always say so. Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented.

Training and growth matter.
I believe coaches should be properly trained and committed to ongoing learning. While lived experience, adjacent career experience and skills are valuable, continued education ensures coaches show up ethically, thoughtfully, and effectively.

Real growth, sustainable relationships

Build Relationships That Feel Brave, Fulfilling, and True to You

As a certified life coach specializing in healthy relationships and meaningful friendships, I help you untangle the patterns, doubts, and internal narratives that keep you feeling stuck or disconnected.

Through powerful questions, practical tools, and thoughtful reflection, I support you in reframing obstacles, taking courageous first steps, and investing in your long-term well-being.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • Your core values and unmet needs

  • Green flags, red flags, and hidden patterns

  • Communication habits that build (or block) intimacy

  • Boundaries that protect your energy

  • The courage to ask for what you want

I’m especially passionate about partnering with introverts who want deeper, more meaningful connections — without pretending to be someone they’re not.

My Coaching Style

People describe my style as thoughtful, caring, humorous, passionate, thought-provoking, and inclusive. I prepare for our sessions with insightful questions, worksheets, and tools. I balance moving in the direction you share is most accessible to you while offering moments of gentle challenging your perspective or capacity for change.

We are all humans, many of us hoping to be the next best version of ourselves. I understand the systemic barriers and inequities that stand in the way of traditional definitions of achievement and prefer to explore what your characteristics of success look and feel like for you.

My goal is to create openings for you to imagine obtainable goals, move towards them, and feel satisfied with how you have shifted the needle - one difference at a time.

A Different Definition of Success

We don’t live in a vacuum. Systemic barriers and inequities shape our experiences and opportunities. I honor that reality.

Rather than chasing someone else’s version of achievement, we’ll define what success looks and feels like for you — and create attainable goals that move you toward it, one meaningful shift at a time.

Additional Areas of Focus

If friendship is not a current focus for you, below are some other areas I am particularly equipped to focus on with you on. This list is not an exhaustive and I encourage you to reach out regardless to see if we align.

  • ■ values and needs clarification in finding and forming romantic relationships

  • ■ identity shifts (with a special focus on the queer community and those who see themselves as coming out later in life than others)

    ■ job or educational transitions (with a special focus on the nonprofit world)

  • ■ emotional intelligence, boundaries, and communication
    ■ Baby Boomer parents deepening understanding and support of millennial & Gen Z adult children

  • ■ goal setting, organization, and time management

  • ■ exploring volunteer, personal interests, or community engagement experiences

Kind Words

Caryn brings expertise that blends the social sciences, communication and leadership skills, and psychology. She helped me survive a difficult environment through supporting me with further developing key communication skills. She delivers value on session 1, establishing a friendly and welcoming environment through active listening, showing compassion and empathy, and providing unique feedback and strategies. It is noteworthy to highlight as well, that Caryn embodies the values and vision of Found, as she was born to catalyze deep and genuine social connections.
